As the year 2020 drew to a close, the ultracasual gaming market on Android devices in the United States exhibited some interesting trends. Data from Sensor Tower provides a snapshot of how top games in this category performed during the fourth quarter.
Starting with Acrylic Nails! by CrazyLabs LTD, the title saw a peak in downloads reaching 309K in the first week of November, followed by a gradual decrease to 157K in mid-December, before climbing back up to 232K towards the year's end. Weekly active users mirrored this trend somewhat, spiking at 399K in early November and then rising again to 455K in the last week of December after a dip.
Demolish! from French publisher VOODOO showed a decline in both downloads and active users throughout the quarter. The game started with 278K downloads in the first week of October and ended the quarter with 113K downloads. The weekly active users followed a similar path, starting at 413K and ending at 248K.
KAYAC Inc.'s Paint Dropper: draw puzzle experienced a decrease in downloads from 81K at the start of the quarter to a low of 32K in mid-December, before rebounding to 84K in the last week. Weekly active users began at 131K, dipped to 68K in mid-December, and also saw a recovery to 129K by the end of the quarter.
ZPLAY Games' Carve The Pencil had a strong start with 133K downloads in the first week of November but saw a decline to 16K by the end of December. Active users exhibited a similar trend, peaking at 216K in early November before falling to 38K by the quarter's end.
Lastly, ASMR Slicing, also by CrazyLabs LTD, showed variability in its performance with downloads peaking at 39K in mid-October and reaching a high of 67K in the final week of December. Weekly active users showed growth from 90K in late September to 150K by the year's end.
